problem

The orginal website design consisted entirely of images. Search engines cannot read text in images - at least not yet - therefore no keywords were visible to search engine robots.

AK Furnitrue also need to be able to upload their own images and tehir descriptions for their portfolio and to have it appear in a stylish format.

solution

We converted the entire website to XHTML/CSS which required cross-browser support for translucent/transparent layers to preserve the design. Relevant keywords were assigned prominance to promote search engine ranking. A contact form was added with spam protection as they had previously had their email address visible to robots and had received an abundance of spam.

We designed and implemented a PHP/MySQL database solution for images with an administrative login to allow the company to upload their own images.

When visitors click on a gallery thumbnail AJAX is used to populate a popup with the image and data from the database. Javascript is used to make the popup image fill the viewport of the browser. Full cross browser testing was performed with alternative CSS files for different browsers.
