Donovan Marrison Ltd. is a medium sized technical recruitment agency. New vacancies need to be advertised all the time. Those vacancies then need to be picked up by the search engines in order that prospective candidates can find them. Furthermore the application process needed to be streamlined to enable candidates to apply online by uploading their CV to the correct person.

solution

InternetLogic designed and developed a back-end administration system enabling vacancies to be edited using a javascript HTML editor - very similar to word. Vacancies are saved into a MySQL database. On the front page of the website there is a "Latest Vacancy" javascript scroller and an urgent vacancy section. The administrator can flag certain vacancies for each section. A record is kept of who edited the records.

Candidates can click on a vacancy link to view details and apply online by entering their details and uploading a CV in either Word, PDF or txt format. The CV is then forwarded to the member of staff dealing with that vacancy.

For search engine optimisation a number of RSS feeds have been implement. These ensure that Google will pick up the vacancies on a more frequent basis.

In addition all URLs for vacancies - including RSS - are re-written to be more search engine friendly. For example: http://www.donovanmarrison.ltd.uk/vacancies/contract/aberdeen/structural-engineer-offshore/826/ includes the type of vacancy, location and job title. This information is retrieved from the database for the vacancy with the id of 826 - the only information needed by teh PHP script..
